There is a substantial gender gap in the share of young adults who report playing video games. About seven-in-ten men younger than 30 (72%) say they play video games often or sometimes, compared with 49% of women in the same age group. Among those ages 30 to 49, 58% of men and 48% of women play video games. When it comes to older adults, similar shares of men and women say they play (27% of men ages 50 and older, compared with 30% of women). Previous research by Pew Research Center shows similar trends.

Gunter made history when she was promoted to a corporal and assigned as a Multiple Launch Rocket System launcher chief, a position usually held by a staff sergeant. Her new position means that she is the first woman in the 13M military occupation specialty to enter the non-commissioned officer corps and be assigned as a launcher chief. While other female 13Ms have attained such status, they were all reclassified into the MOS, whereas Gunter began her career as a 13M two years ago during the second 13M Advanced Individual Training class open to women.

Jones made history on July 16, 2013, as one of the first women to attend the U.S. Army Ordnance School's Artillery Mechanic (91P). The 15-week military occupational specialty was, until the beginning of this class, been restricted to male students. Jones and Spc. Angelika Jansen are the first females to hold the military occupational specialty. The course is one of six the Army opened to women as part of an effort to loosen the combat exclusion provisions under the Direct Ground Combat Definition and Assignment Rule.

Approximately five percent of general officers in the Army are women, which includes mobilized Army Reserve and Army National Guard general officers.

Dr. Cornum entered into combat with the U.S. Army's 2-229th attack helicopter battalion during the Gulf War, Feb. 27, 1991. Then-Maj. Cornum became the first medical officer to graduate Air Command and Staff College and published her prisoner-of-war experience in the book, "She Went to War: The Rhonda Cornum Story." As an Army flight surgeon, serving with the 2/229th Attack Helicopter Battalion during Desert Storm, Cornum's UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter was shot down over Iraq. One of three survivors from the eight-person crew, Cornum was captured by the Iraqi Republican Guard and held as a POW. Her open dialogue from her experiences as a female POW helped drive Congress to expand the roles of women in combat. In addition, her leadership in the aviation and medical communities helped enhance combat performance for hundreds of thousands of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines serving around the world.

The 3rd U.S. Infantry (The Old Guard), is the oldest continuously active unit in the Army. Because it is a combat arms unit, The Old Guard did not allow women into its ranks until 1994 when the 289th Military Police Company was attached to it.

For top SVOD services, growth in North American subscribers has slowed.2 As they pursue global markets, and as those markets mature, they may be facing the same challenge. For consumers, getting their entertainment through the fragmented SVOD landscape requires more effort and, increasingly, nearly as much money.3 Over the past two years, US consumers have become increasingly frustrated when they lose content to other services, have to manage multiple subscriptions, and receive poor recommendations.

In the United States, a vast majority of respondents are playing video games. Thanks to a range of devices and content, more than 80% of both men and women say they play, with half of smartphone owners saying they play on a smartphone daily. As we might expect, Gen Z and Millennial gamers play the most, logging an average of 11 and 13 hours per week, respectively. Gen X gamers follow closely behind with around 10 hours of gameplay every week (figure 7).

Video games offer people an outlet for self-expression, immersion, connection, and relaxation, and game companies have monetized these qualities quite effectively. Amid lockdowns and social distancing requirements, the pandemic has only underscored the value of socialization in digital worlds. But virtual worlds can bring the downsides of physical life with them: Bullying and harassment have become a larger problem.10 These negative experiences can tarnish games, provoke regulators, and threaten revenues. Worse, social games can become toxic, with women and minorities often being targeted.11

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing inequalities, with the past three years intensifying the socioeconomic, environmental, health and climate related impacts on the lives of older persons, especially older women who constitute the majority of older persons.

While older women continue to meaningfully contribute to their political, civil, economic, social and cultural lives; their contributions and experiences remain largely invisible and disregarded, limited by gendered disadvantages accumulated throughout the life course. The intersection between discrimination based on age and gender compounds new and existing inequalities, including negative stereotypes that combine ageism and sexism.

You know, everybody's juggling a whole life, and especially as African-American women, we oftentimes are responsible, responsible not only for our household, but we have generational responsibilities, we have community responsibilities.

And then also, as Dean Shani mentioned, empowering other younger women and allow them their space to be individuals- their own individuality, their own character, personality, their creativity, allowing space for that because trust me, it's enough room for all of us to shine.

And so with that foundation, as I started my journey throughout policing and where I am now, when I see other women and other people in my circle, some of them are starting that journey, and I'm a, I got young kids.

But we just have to -- it's just so many barriers in my -- when I came to the district and I saw all those women presidents, I was like, Okay -- and then all these women deans, I was like, this is a totally different world for me, completely with all these beautiful, intelligent, strong women leading the district everywhere. 041b061a72
